Works as advertised

Three years ago I bought this lighter and recently the fire coil broke off so I ordered another one. Then I realized the original was guaranteed for life so I called Essential Gear got a return number and sent my broken lighter to them even though I hadn't bought the original from them a fact I told them. The new lighter arrived and worked great and two weeks later my old lighter arrived fixed and at no cost. I use this lighter on the golf course in high winds and never have a problem. As a boy scout parent I have collected different types of matchless fire starters. This one is far and away our favorite fire starter. It is nothing more than a very durable flint and steel but the length of the flint is just right for creating ample sparks. We've had the little boy scout style fire starters and they do work but are small and harder to handle. We've had the common magnesium fire starter which you strike with a steel knife. That also works but your knife gets a bit abused. And then we've tried Blastmatches and several other varieties. But this one beats them all in ease of use and er sparkability. The only disadvantage is weight. It isn't light. We carry the little boy scout style (like Emergency Fire Starter from Amazon) in our backpacking emergency kits but the Strike Force is what we take when weight is not an issue.More detail ...

Just Like I remember!

Why can't we buy these in the store anymore? It is so nice to be able to strike the match anywhere - you can take a few with you in your pocket and not have to have the entire box. Just pull one out and strike it anywhere - even on your zipper! Marvelous invention - why is it sometimes we had better things years ago! Now they sell the strike ONLY on the BOX matches - you have to carry the BOX EVERYWHERE - what a pain! Strike ANYWHERE is the way to go!!!More detail ...

Great crock pot!

We love this product! The features on it are fantastic. We especially like the probe setting. You simply insert the probe into your meat and it will monitor the cooking process until the meat has reached the desired temperature. It then automatically switches to a low setting to keep your meal warm until you are ready to eat. There's no guessing how long it will take to cook. Throw in a few vegetables and have a home-cooked meal with very little fuss!



Another awesome feature is the clip-tight gasket lid. It's perfect for traveling to pot-luck dinners without worrying that you will ruin the upholstery in your car from a spill.



Our family highly recommends this product!



One note of caution. Watch the price when ordering online. Amazon currently has it selling for nearly $200 but it can be found in stores for a fraction of that price--usually $50-$60.More detail ...
